Strongly Bounded Groups and Infinite Powers of Finite Groups

چکیده
We define a group as strongly bounded if every isometric action on a metric space has bounded orbits. This latter property is equivalent to the so-called uncountable strong cofinality, recently introduced by Bergman. Our main result is that G is strongly bounded when G is a finite, perfect group and I is any set. This strengthens a result of Koppelberg and Tits. We also prove that ω1-existentially closed groups are strongly bounded.

ALGEBRAS WITH CYCLE-FINITE STRONGLY SIMPLY CONNECTED GALOIS COVERINGS
Let $A$ be a nite dimensional $k-$algebra and $R$ be a locally bounded category such that $R rightarrow R/G = A$ is a Galois covering dened by the action of a torsion-free group of automorphisms of $R$. Following [30], we provide criteria on the convex subcategories of a strongly simply connected category R in order to be a cycle- nite category and describe the module category of $A$. We p...
متن کاملSome connections between powers of conjugacy classes and degrees of irreducible characters in solvable groups
Let $G$ be a finite group. We say that the derived covering number of $G$ is finite if and only if there exists a positive integer $n$ such that $C^n=G'$ for all non-central conjugacy classes $C$ of $G$. In this paper we characterize solvable groups $G$ in which the derived covering number is finite.
متن کاملA classification of hull operators in archimedean lattice-ordered groups with unit
The category, or class of algebras, in the title is denoted by $bf W$. A hull operator (ho) in $bf W$ is a reflection in the category consisting of $bf W$ objects with only essential embeddings as morphisms. The proper class of all of these is $bf hoW$. The bounded monocoreflection in $bf W$ is denoted $B$. We classify the ho's by their interaction with $B$ as follows. A ``word'' is a function ...
متن کاملA relation between infinite subsets and exterior center in groups
Let G be a group. Neumann to answer a question of Paul Erdos proved that every infinite subset of G has two different comuting elements if and only if G is center-by-finite. In this paper, we deal with Erdoschr('39')s question in different aspect and we show that every infinite subset X of G has two different elements x and y such that x^y=1 if and only if the exterior center of G ihas finit...
متن کاملThe CI Problem for Infinite Groups
A finite group G is a DCI-group if, whenever S and S′ are subsets of G with the Cayley graphs Cay(G,S) and Cay(G,S′) isomorphic, there exists an automorphism φ of G with φ(S) = S′. It is a CI-group if this condition holds under the restricted assumption that S = S−1. We extend these definitions to infinite groups, and make two closely-related definitions: an infinite group is a strongly (D)CIf ...
